Ball-On-Plate

A Ball-On-Plate System that uses BIOE

This Ball-On-Plate system was realized by Christian Reisinger within his bachelor thesis at the Institute of Automatic Control and Control Systems Technology at the Johannes Kepler University of Linz that will be used for further educational and research purpose to test different control law design methods. The system consists of a PC with a RTAI patched Linux as real time operating system and three BIOE modules to control modified RC servo motors (the internal electronic was removed) and to get the ball position with the touch panel.

Segway

A Segway which uses BIOE

This model of a Segway was developed by the Institute for Robotics at the Johannes Kepler University of Linz and is used for educational and research purpose to develop new control strategies for this nonlinear system. The Segway contains an embedded pc with a RTAI patched Linux as real time operating system and it can be programmed and controlled with via a WiFi interface. One BIOE module is used as interface between the embedded pc system and a mikrocontroller system interconnected to the drive and sensors. The adaption to use BIOE, RTAI and Scilab/Scicos was done by Andreas Rohrhofer within his master thesis.

Six-Legged Robot

2. Dezember 2010
A Six-Legged Robot which uses 6 BIOE's, one for each leg.

Six BIOE's (one for each leg) are used to control this Six-Legged Robot of the Institute for Robotics at the Johannes Kepler University of Linz. The BIOE's generate the PPM signal for the servomotors, control the DC-motors and measure the angles of the wheels equiped with incremental encoders. The Robot contains an embedded pc with a RTAI patch Linux as real time operating system and it can be programmed and controlled with via a WiFi interface.
